Standish Humane Society  adopts cats to homes throughout the Massachusetts region. Please call 781-834-4663 to make an appointment and discuss the purrrrfect match for you. We find happy homes for hundreds of cats per year.

For the safety and security of all our animals, Standish requires a face to face meeting with every adoption applicant. We promised all of our “furry little clients” that they could meet their potential families before an adoption takes place. You may e-mail about a cat directly from these pages or call 781-834-4663 to speak with a volunteer. We would love to hear from you.

PETS OF THE MONTH

Lucy & Tiger Lily

These sisters were left in a box with two other siblings outside the Plymouth Pound.  They were born April'10 and are very bonded, so they want a home together.   Lucy (top) is a dilute calico.  Tiger Lily (bottom) is a "torbie" with tiger/orange/white markings.  These little girls are very friendly and playful and will make a wonderful addition to any home. Call or email to make appointment to visit these cuties.

These little darlings are sisters, born 05/18/10. They are everything you could want in a kitten -- friendly lap cats who also love to play and run and jump and tumble --- the perfect picture of "kittenhood"  Make an appointment to visit their foster home and meet these sweeties.

Cloud has medium length gray fur.  Jelly Bean has short length black fur.

When you visit us, you’ll find a unique and cat-friendly environment

When you come to the Standish shelter to adopt, you get to see how the cats react to you in their home-like environment. Some cats will come running up to you; others are more reserved. You can also see how the cats interact with each other. We have adoption counselors who can help you select the perfect cat for your home and family. We know the personalities of all the cats at the shelter and can help guide you to make the best choice. Some cats love children and will come happily up to greet the kids when they enter the room. Other cats have had no experience with children and may prefer adult company. Some of the cats co-exist with other cats, but would really like to be “only” cats where they get all the attention, while some of our cats thrive when surrounded by other cats. Our adoption counselors will help you pick your new friend, and we will advise you on introducing your cats to your home. Our counselors are experts on feline behavior and will gladly answer your questions and continue to provide needed advice after the adoption because we want both you and your adopted kitty to live happily ever after...
