P.O. Box 634, Duxbury, MA 02331 (781)834-4663

Standish Humane Society  adopts cats to homes throughout the Massachusetts region.  Please call 781-834-4663  to make an appointment and discuss the purrrrfect match for you. We find happy homes for hundreds of cats per year.

For the safety and security of all our animals, Standish requires a face to face meeting with every adoption applicant. We promised all of our “furry little clients” that they could meet their potential families before an adoption takes place. You may e-mail about a cat directly from these pages or call 781-834-4663 to speak with a volunteer. We would love to hear from you.

Pets of the Month:  JESTER & HOWIE

JESTER & HOWIE are year old soul mates, even though they look and act like littermates. They are ½ Siamese. They were surrendered from a house with too many cats. They are very friendly and HOWIE is talkative, even though he’s too busy hugging to tell you about himself right now.All the cats at Standish are tested and healthy, all up-to-date with shots and a complete vet exam. We’re free of FIV or HIV. So e-mail about us by clicking here to make an appointment or call  781-834-4663”

When you visit us, you’ll find a unique and cat-friendly environment

When you come to the Standish shelter to adopt, you get to see how the cats react to you in their home-like environment. Some cats will come running up to you; others are more reserved. You can also see how the cats interact with each other.

We have three adoption counselors who can help you select the perfect cat for your home and family. We know the personalities of all the cats at the shelter and can help guide you to make the best choice. Some cats love children and will come happily up to greet the kids when they enter the room. Other cats have had no experience with children and may prefer adult company.. Some of the cats coexist with other cats, but would really like to be “only” cats where they get all the attention, while some of our cats thrive when surrounded by other cats.

Our adoption counselors will help you pick your new friend, and we will advise you on introducing your cats to your home. Our counselors are experts on feline behaviour and will gladly answer your questions and continue to provide needed advice after the adoption because we want both you and your adopted kitty to live happily ever after...
